Moto X vs Samsung Galaxy S4: Battle Between Tremendous Androids

Posted: 04 Aug 2013 05:20 PM PDT

In a market already saturated by two leading global giants does a new player really have much leg room to push in? Even with a half million dollar marketing budget? Motorola boasts their new product, the Moto X, to be able to give a 24 hour usage period and will be featured in a wide array of colors and textures including wood.

Motorola Moto X vs Samsung Galaxy S4Comparison of Moto X and Galaxy S4

Slimmer the better?

The Moto X is on average 6.5 percent shorter and thinner than the Galaxy S4 but in the curved region it is 3.5 mm thicker.

Weight it out!

The weight is 130 grams each the Moto X and the Galaxy S4 so this would make the Moto X heavier in terms of weight per unit surface area.

Build

The marketing geared Moto X is more geared towards form factor than specs. Just like the budget iPhone version the Moto X will also be available in many different styled choices. The most interesting one would naturally be the custom built wood version. This has certainly never happened before and this variant will ship in the fourth quarter of this year.

Bigger Display

The GS4 still has a much larger and sharper screen than the non spec heavy Moto X. The 1080p resolution of the powerhouse may be better than the Moto X but to the typical Smartphone user that hardly matters. The Moto X has 88% of the GS4's screen but the constant on screen nav bar has slashed the usable screen area further.

Processing Power

The processor the Moto X boasts is basically a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro, which should deliver decent if not great performance. The S4 however is still more powerful as it comes with either Snapdragon 600 or Exynos 5 Octa, based on where you bought the phone.

RAM and Storage

Just like the GS4 the Moto X also has 2 GB of RAM. With the exclusion of a micro SD slot the Moto X comes in two variants, the public 16 GB version and a 32 GB variant exclusively to AT&T customers.

Network and Battery Life

The non removable Moto X battery, however smaller than the S4, is claimed to provide better battery life (24 hours of uptime) with effective power management as a marketing claim as yet. Galaxy S4 and Motorola X have a 4G LTE network.

Camera Comparison

The Moto X features a 10.5 MP back camera with Clear Pixel touch which will provide better low light results. The unique feature of its camera is how you access it. As the phone is geared towards being handy here we see how with two quick rotations of the phone the camera pops up anywhere and a touch anywhere on the screen snaps a pic.

Software

It came as a surprise that the Moto X will be configured for Android 4.2.2. One would think that a Google owned company would present android 4.3. The main difference then in the Moto X and S4 would be the less used Touch Wiz in the S4.

Ease of Access

As Google Now is the most used android features out there this gives Moto X a very nice advantage. Even when the phone is asleep simply saying “Ok Google Now” will spring your phone to life ready to search for your desired info. As it also learns your voice so in theory here, a voice impressionist would be the only other person to access your phone. Both the Moto X and the Galaxy S4 feature NFC chips to enable near field communication between devices.

Final Words

It’s interesting to see the spec arms race between the leaders of the Smartphone industry these days and as we like the numerous performance bombs dropped on us one does wonder if these things really matter to the general Smartphone buying populace. We will have to see if Motorola's new direction will stand in the way of the current trend.

Moto X Wallpapers

Shoes wallpaper of Moto xSuppliers have gotten into a bit of a nervous wreck in the attempt to hardware specifications with every upcoming Smartphone. Stephen Elop, the CEO of Nokia briefed a few days back, that nothing but a single core to any Smartphone is essentially worthless , and although it cannot be considered purely true, one can notice where he went.

Identifying the point that any Smartphone does not require an octa-core processor and RAM with untold concerts for carrying out the most basic digital errands daily, Moto X is a marvel specially designed with a more considerable level of performance that specifically optimized for software that will be running on it.

The most important reason noticed as why the iPhones, in spite of lagging behind various top end Android phones, provide the users a gleaming feeling as compared to other platforms is that all hardware and software designing is completed in-house by Apple and that is why the ready-to-launch product by Apple is an honest expression of iOS as Apple wanted.

The Moto X will even compete HTC One and will be surely considered a show-stopper, but when you notice about its publicity and performance, it seems as Motorola and Google ultimately apprehended it. So, guys, surely a lot of users among you will be anxiously looking to get the latest Moto X, but if you can’t grab it now, you can mull over its exciting wallpapers that have been publicized by Google.
