Nintendo - Presentation Post-E3 2013

Super Smash Bros X

Following the announcements at E3, Nintendo invited the press in a Parisian loft for a large catch-up session: grip, along with a (e) host (ess), titles that will make the future of consoles Nintendo in the coming months. Immediately calm down our enthusiasm: Super Smash Bros X and not playable, will obviously not be the party. But for everything else, Super Mario World 3D Mario Kart 8 through Pikmin 3 and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, the event was a good opportunity to get a better idea of these securities, on the other end of the world, had a bit of trouble to make us dream.

So first things first: Super Mario 3D World on Wii U. Recall the concept, it is a platform game based on the gameplay of the episode Mario Land 3DS, with an overlay of Super Mario Bros. 2 (yes, the old episode of the NES) and New Super Mario Bros. release show. In other words, a 3D environment, with multiplayer and incarnation of different characters to feature distinct Luigi jumps higher, Toad is fast, Peach floats a few seconds in the air, and Mario averaged. No multiplayer in this presentation, just a little demo to get their hands on one level and discover the cat suit. We guess a little solo potential, necessarily seductive without being exceptional, and we imagine that it may be the same four players, private constraints scrolling New episodes. They have solved a few problems of gameplay (including freeze to death of a protagonist), we may end up with a friendly and more playable than the previous versions Thurs To be continued.

Obviously, I could not resist any longer, Mario Kart 8 beckoning me not far away. Three small tours to discover the world of karting fufu in HD, it is little, but it was also an opportunity to understand a little the new concept of the episode. In some places, it is possible to defy gravity and roll on the walls and ceilings. Difficult to get an overall idea as few circuits, however, it seems that the feature can be used to diversify how to navigate a circuit. Besides the traditional shortcuts stashed, it will be possible to take one or more channels bis severity altered to avoid driving too congested / trapped too. The time for narrow paths of the Super NES is now far, the circuits Mario Kart 8 will be true tentacles that can be crossed in long, wide, through.

In terms of planning, Pikmin 3 is the closest to us, scheduled for July 26 in Europe. Connoisseurs will find their marks quickly as it will gather Pikmin, small plant-like creatures, and use them to make their way in green environments - to slay enemies, overcome obstacles or pick fruits . The demo allowed to embody a single browser, but the final version will offer the possibility, solo, to lead to three - which will obviously have an impact on the gameplay and challenges.

To continue with the licensing of the iconic house, it was also possible to make some level of Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. No revolution to expect next, DK Country version of Wii U will be exactly the same ilk as the previous parts, living or laptop, but in HD. It will therefore be a platform game thoughtful, able to accommodate up to two players simultaneously, which will probably win its flavor by the high percentage of secrets that each level contains. I went through two levels without finding any ...

Two sets of platforms presented, already one in 3D and other side-scrolling, here's a third: Sonic Lost World. The hedgehog eyeing a little towards his counterpart release mustache Galaxy, while obviously bringing his paw. Sonic will have to pass at full speed levels consist of spheres, cylinders, pipes, while dodging / destroying enemies and being careful not to jump into the ravine came first. Besides the 3D levels where you can manage its speed and trajectory, the game also offers 2D levels a little more full-bodied and kind Crash Bandicoot course where speed is imposed (longer drive). The controls seemed a little risky and a little bland game technically, but the output is scheduled for the end of the year, the version presented was far from over.

I never touched Bayonetta, I am in command of the second album, Bayonetta 2 exclusive Wii U. I take a whole section of geek culture hard directly on the right cheek: the main character is a female with glasses gracious, well provided with all that tends to fuck half naked when it hits hard and lay gimmicks, glances to right and left, if possible in lascivious positions. Quickly, I have to face facts: the players will anyway no time to watch, Bayonetta is extremely nervous, dense, maybe even too much. It pummeled in an explosion of visual effects, QTE, super shots, drive linked together without any downtime. I think he did not understand half of it happening, but I had spent a quarter of an hour on Pikmin. The public is not the same.

Along the way, I am in front of a 3DS with a limited demo of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Not necessarily the game that I expected more, but the session was little convincing. The idea of finding a top view and the world of A Link to the Past is more exciting in the end, and it becomes clear that despite its appearance of a heated game (this is not one, look !), this Zelda has a lot to offer. The new power link, be incorporated into walls, is used many times and will be the center of puzzles rather twisted one hand, and sequences of skill on the other. The perspective widely used 3D and gives meaning to the raised console screen. Setting function will be a more accurate idea distances and enjoy the beautiful animations when Link change room (sometimes against their will).

For lack of time, not The Wonderful 101, Wii U Party, Disney Infinity, Just Dance (the better way, I would not have been to my advantage). If you look closely, this post-E3 presentation is very representative of the Nintendo strategy: offer something different. Through a video, it was easy to dismiss its securities to certain recurring too, but joystick in hand feel is quite different. We see the potential, perhaps not enough to win the console war bad start for the Wii U (especially that no games were exclusive use of the gamepad), but certainly enough to power the owners console by the end of 2014.
