A Fly on the Wall of Cupertino; Microsoft’s anti-iPhone 5 ad [Video]

Posted: 17 Sep 2013 03:48 AM PDT

For some time now, Microsoft has been entertaining the public through disdainful videos about Apple's iPad. The videos that are promoted as a source of humor are in fact a promoting that Windows RT and windows 8 platform are better than iPad.

Anti iPhone 5 AdRecently, Microsoft released two short videos and one long two minute video titled, "A Fly on the Wall of Cupertino". The videos that were uploaded to the windows Phone YouTube channel show, the Apple "CEO" and two "employees" from Apple, who is making fun of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C's features. They ridicule the recent color range describing them as 'vermillion', 'chartreuse' and 'robin's egg'. They also mocked the polycarbonate body, fingertip reader and the camera in the new phones. They make ludicrous suggestions throughout the video.

The video was seen by a great number of people, although some people found them amusing, most of them found the video to be offensive and thoughtless. Some found the jab made on the highly anticipated smart watch by Apple, a little too "aggressive"!

Writing for The Next Web, Ken Yeung has reportedly said: ‘Poking fun at Apple's various colors is perhaps Microsoft's way of saying, "hey, we thought of this first", but it's just coming across as bewildering.’

Agreeing with the general consensus, Microsoft took off the video and issued a public statement at CNET stating, “[the campaign] was intended to be a lighthearted poke at our friends from Cupertino. But it was off the mark, and we’ve decided to pull it down.”

Apple’s iPhone still Holds the Large Piece of Pie [Bloomberg]

Posted: 17 Sep 2013 03:36 AM PDT

"Apple dominates more than 90% of the mobile generated revenue," the chief executive officer of online publisher Thrillist Media Group, Ben Lerer reported today at the Bloomberg Next Big Summit.

Ben Lerer said that although Apple is surrendering the market share of Google, Apple's iPhone still holds the larger piece of the pie when it comes to shopping done through mobiles. He explained that about half of his sales are through Smartphone, and out of that half, 40% has been conquered by Apple and only the remaining 10% is in the hands of Android users.

Apple in BlackAlthough android phones accounted for 79% of shipment in the last quarter compared to a meager 13% of iPhone shipments, still the shopping trend has not improved in android users. This gap validates the fact, that Google has been incapable of altering the status of its users to "consumers."  The constantly profitable customer behavior also gives the brains at Apple, an opportunity to concentrate on Apple's ecosystem.

This disparity in the shopping trends has motivated Ben Lerer to develop a more sophisticated iPhone application, as he states that whatsoever enhancements they provide, the performance of an iPhone user is always healthier and different than others! Apple released its latest version of iPhone recently. And although investors were anxious they had not released a lower- cost version to compete with Samsung, Apple seems unperturbed.

Whereas Jeremy Levine stated that iPhone consumers devote more time to their phones. He said that Android users buy phones that are recommended by a salesperson or somebody else, but they are unable to realize the full potential of the phone in their hands.
