After watching the video regarding iPhone 5S, yesterday another update came to the light just now. It elaborates that the iPhone 5S is coming in five different colors including gray/Graphite iPhone 5S, gold, silver, light blue, white and a new one that may be the blue color.

How to Dual Boot TouchWiz and any AOSP ROM on Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500

The users can find a lot of similarities in HTC One and Galaxy S4. Both of them have been designed the best in context of not only the software, hardware too. Both of them are considered the pride for their companies. Moreover, both of the devices can be found in two variants: the standard version and the Google Play edition. The users were able to perform the dual booting of Google Play Edition stock Android and HTC Sense on their HTC One. Similarly they can do with the Samsung Galaxy S4. The Rom Switcher by Grarak is a tool that allows you to perform the process of dual booting the TouchWiz and any ROM based on AOSP on your Galaxy S4.

Dual-Boot Galaxy S4 GT-i9500It has been shared by Grarak, the Senior Member of XDA-Developers. This is an awesome app that enables you to dual boot not only the Google Play edition ROM on your Galaxy S4, but also any ROM based on AOSP. Usually an AOSP ROM works through the cache partition and its location in TouchWiz ROM has been modified to make it acceptable. You should be well versed that the ROM is in alpha condition presently, but it is functioning properly.

So, let’s start the process without any ado.

Guide to Dual-Boot TouchWiz & any AOSP ROM on Galaxy S4

Precaution:

  • You should follow the procedure of dual boot at your own responsibility and techmell is not responsible for any damage during the procedure.
  • You can follow the process only for Galaxy S4 i9500. It cannot be used for any other Galaxy S4 variant.

Prerequisites

Procedure

  • Download AOSP in 7-zip and open it.
  • Now move to Meta-INF/com/google/android and get your required file that is known as updater-script on your system.
  • This file should be opened in Notepad++.
  • Look for this line:
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p20", "/system");
  • You need to replace this line with the following one:
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p19", "/system");
  • Now you need to look for the following two lines. Once you find them, delete both of them:
format("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p20", "0", "/system");

and

package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p9");
  • Now save and drag the file "updater-script" to 7-zip while the ROM being opened in the file. You will be asked now whether you want to replace it, you need to show your consent.
  • In the same way you need to launch the gapps package zip file in 7-zip and drag the updater-script to your desktop and launch in Notepad++ again.
  • Look for the line in it:
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/system");
  • Now replace it with the following line:
mount("ext4", "EMMC", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p19", "/system");
  • Updater-script should be saved as it was saved earlier and drag it to the 7-zip while gapps zip file is not closed.
  • Now Move the gapps package and ROM to the inner storage of your Galaxy S4.
  • You need to reboot Galaxy S4 into recovery mode.
  • Open the gapps package and then ROM and nothing should be wiped.
  • Your device should be rebooted. Return to the stock TouchWiz ROM now.
  • It is the time to install the Rom Switcher tweak by Grarak that can be downloaded from its APK file. Launch it once you have done with its installation.
  • Now you need to wait for a while as this amazing app will do the rest of the things. You just need to proceed further as it directs you.
  • Now you can use the app Rom Switcher for rebooting Galaxy S4 in the AOSP ROM and finally, you have successfully dual boot TouchWiz and AOSP RoM on your Galay S4.
