According to Comscore, 145 million people have been reported to be in possession of Smartphones in August. The percentage of Smartphone holders that increased by 3 percent, holds a market share of 3.2% out of the total by the Windows Phone.

WIndows PhoneThe trend of obtaining a Windows Phone has been slowly growing. The progress, no doubt is slow, but it is definitely progress. Our views have been confirmed by the data gathered by Comscore, which authenticates that the market share of the Windows Phone has increased to 3.2% in this August as compared to the 3% in July.

The market share is minute as compared to the share of other devices. Looking in general, Android is at the top with a market share of 51.6%, followed by Apple with a market share of 40.7% (whose share saw an upward trend of 1.5%), then Blackberry with 4% and lastly the 3% of the Windows phones. Even though Android share decreased by 0.8%, it still manages to hold the top position.

However, glimpsing at the statistics gathered in Europe, the market share of Windows Phone reached 8.2% – the highest mark ever achieved by the device!

The data provided by ComScore does not show a positive trend in the life of Microsoft's phone gallery but according to Steve Ballmer, the lack of the market share is an 'upside opportunity' to take the phone to a greater level. According to the former CEO of Microsoft, the company knows how doing a great job, and surely will find its way to ensure improvement.
